"I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us. If the book we are reading doesn't wake us up with a blow on the head, what are we reading it for? ...we need the books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us."
-- Franz Kafka in a letter to Oskar Pollak (27 January 1904)
Alexander Robotnick....A couple of different mixes here. Not to mention "Araba" is an unreleased track from 1985!! How rad!!! Straight fucking Problèmes d'amour dust!!!
Alexander Robotnick- Araba (1985 unreleased dust for ya!)
Brian Eno & David Byrne "Qu'ran" (Deleted song My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts) 1981.
This song was forced off the original LP because of the title referring to the Islamic Text...from 1981.
From the vaults here it is...
"We would hike to waterfalls, to lakes, caverns, beautiful rainforests as a group all throughout South America, and we'd have these magic potions that our local contacts would have, and we'd experience the world, each other, but it was the locals and the music that mattered the most, so many magical moments." Pat Metheny 1989
Richard Twarzik. Talented
young pianist found dead of a heroin overdose, with the needle still in his
arm, probably days after this photograph. He was 23. He studied music at cambridge, and worked
with charlie parker, and appeared on a couple parker albums before Baker. Many
blamed Baker himself for Twarzik's death, and believed he was present, and left
his friend to die. Quickly after all major labels didn’t want anything to do
with Chet Baker...
Listen to one of their best...Chet and Richard...piano and voice...Born To Be Blue.
